Clean & Cozy: Washing a Dog Bed in Winter
Why Dog Beds Require Special Care in Winter
Rain, snow and road salt are carried into the house and onto the dog bed through paws and fur. In addition, dogs tend to lie down longer and fresh air circulation is reduced, which allows odors to develop more quickly. A regularly cleaned dog bed not only ensures cleanliness but also promotes well-being. Dogs sleep more calmly, more relaxed and demonstrably feel better in a fresh environment.
How Often Should You Wash a Dog Bed in Winter?
As a rule of thumb: in winter it is advisable to wash the dog bed cover every two to four weeks, or more often if it becomes heavily soiled. Cleaning is particularly important if your dog: spends a lot of time outdoors likes to jump into the bed while wet reacts sensitively to odors or allergens
Washing Correctly: Gentle on Materials and Comfort
To ensure your dog bed remains beautiful and comfortable throughout the winter, it is important to use the right method when washing it.
- Dog beds made from artificial leather such as BRUNO should not be cleaned in the washing machine. Simply wipe them gently with a damp cloth and our microbiological cleaner to keep them clean without damaging the material.
- For fabric dog beds such as KIRA and KURT, machine washing at a maximum of 30°C on a gentle cycle with the lowest possible spin speed is recommended. Use a mild detergent and avoid fabric softener, as it can damage the fibers and reduce breathability.
- Before washing, completely separate the cover from the filling material and close all zippers.
- After washing, it is best to air-dry the cover so that the shape, structure and comfort are preserved.
Especially in winter, not every bit of dirt requires a trip to the washing machine. Regular vacuuming, shaking out or wiping with a damp cloth helps remove hair, dust and light dirt and significantly extends the time between washes.
Also make sure that your dog is completely dry before using the bed. Wet dogs can strain materials over time and encourage unpleasant odors.
For regular care of artificial leather surfaces, a monthly treatment with the DOGSTYLER Dog Healthy Clean & Care care set is ideal. This keeps the material hygienic, well-maintained and durable without losing its coziness.
Washing a Dog Bed in Winter: Simply Part of the Comfort Routine
Washing a dog bed in winter is not a luxury but part of caring for your dog. With removable covers, regular maintenance and gentle cleaning, the sleeping area remains hygienic, cozy and durable. This ensures that your dog enjoys winter not only clean but also completely relaxed.
