Animal welfare work in Romania
We set off for Romania in August. The vision: to make animal welfare visible and provide as much help as possible on the ground. We provided support in various animal shelters, started a neutering campaign and began placement work. The days on site were intense, emotional and, above all, showed us that something has to change here. And our work and the new local contacts are now a first step in the right direction. Join us in our animal welfare work:
Neutering as a contribution to active animal welfare
Neutering dogs can prevent animal suffering. Fewer dogs are born that would otherwise live on the streets or, worse still, be caught and killed by dog catchers.
We have been able to neuter 40 dogs at the shelter run by Mirela and the dog rescue organisation.
In purely mathematical terms, 40 unneutered dogs and their offspring can produce around 2.5 million dogs in just 6 years.

Our journey in timestamps
MONDAY
Arrival and drive to the hotel together with Fabio and Luis from the dog tour.
This animal shelter is part of the animal welfare group Herzensmenschen. Our neutering campaign is running here with a total of 40 neuterings and we provide support in the placement process.
WEDNESDAY
Pia and Franzi from Paws of Love lovingly look after over 400 dog souls. The organisation has a particularly big heart for handicapped dogs. Dogs are also regularly rehomed to Germany here.
At this animal shelter run by Pfotenherz Tierschutz, two trainee vets are committed to helping dogs in need. They are also in close contact with a former killing centre and try to save as many dogs as possible.
We don't want to and can't tell you too much here. We will probably never get rid of some of the pictures from these 45 minutes.
THURSDAY
Departure back home.
Thanks to the local people and animal shelters
We would like to thank the local people and animal shelters. It is only through and with you that so many dogs have the chance of a life. It is only through you and your daily work that dogs are helped who actually no longer have any prospects. It is only through you that so many dogs regain their self-confidence and begin to love life. It is only through your work that so many dogs get the chance of a real home, a forever basket and a relaxing nap on a cosy couch. It was only because of and thanks to you that we didn't completely lose our nerve on site (okay, we did, but you held us in your arms and picked us up).
Thank you that this short time was the beginning of a new chapter at Dogstyler. That we were allowed to help and not only flew back with a lot of emotions and helpless sadness in our luggage, but also with new perspectives and a great desire for change. Thank you for having such courageous people like you.
